Terms & Conditions
1. Classes start promptly. Please arrive in sufficient time to settle whilst not encroaching on other classes taking place. If the teacher is coming to your home the teacher will often be coming from and going to other lessons so starting and finishing on time still applies.
2. Practice. Please recognise that regular practice between classes is a key part of learning music and essential for progression. If the student is a child parents are asked to support their practice.
3. Car Parking. Vehicles and their contents are left on at a teaching venue at the owner's risk. Please be aware that at a busy venue they will be lots of cars coming and going especially with regard to ensembles. Please park sensibly but not unnecessarily obstructing other vehicle or right of ways.
4. Waiting. Other parties other than the student sitting in on a lesson is not advised as it is a distraction. At some venues there are waiting areas but this is largely down to the teachers discretion.
5. Fees. A Membership fee of £19.99 is payable when you join Grrr's World of Music and at the start of each school year. The first fee covers administration costs for registration and the yearly fee provides access to the forum, and the subsidised events and activities.
6. Payment. Fees are payable in advance, termly or half-termly or by standing order for forty weeks of the year. Any students who arrive for their lessons with fees outstanding may not receive tuition. Any fees or deposits paid are non-refundable unless the Grrr's World of Music cancels a course or lesson. Overdue fees will automatically incur a late payment charge of 5% per month.
7. Invoices for the forthcoming term are issued automatically unless written notice is received of your wish to discontinue lessons. Please contact Grrr's World of Music by the end of the term if you wish to change your lesson time/day for the new term.
8. Cheques should be made payable to K. Johnson with name and details on the reverse. Receipts are only issued on request. A receipt must be produced should there be any query with regard to cash payments.
9. Notice. Six weeks notice must be given in writing if for any reason you do not wish to continue with your lessons. If notice is not given in writing, a sum equivalent to six weeks fee is charged.
10. Cancellation. In the unlikely event of the tutor having to cancel your lesson an alternative time may be offered. Missed lessons due to tutor cancellation will be credited back to you. If for any reason you are unable to attend a lesson please inform Grrr's World of Music or your teacher with as much notice as possible and the teacher will do their best to offer you an alternative time. If a time cannot be arraged then missed lessons due to student's absence are payable at the normal rate.
11. Complaints. We rely heavily on our good reputation and always strive to do the best by our students and the community. If you have any complaints please raise it with your teacher immediately. If you do not feel comfortable talking with your teacher or the complaint is in relation to that individual please contact Kate on 01202 600768.
Play it Yourself Terms & Conditions
1. Instrument hire is for six months. A cheque deposit is required. After the initial hire period the instrument can either be re-hired for a further six months, purchased (where by Grrr's World of Music will cash the cheque deposit) or returned to Grrr's World of Music. If the instrument is damaged part or all of the deposit may be lost. Upgrading your instrument can also be arranged.
2. Membership to Grrr's World of Music is for one year and will need to be renewed if you wish it to continue.
3. Use of Smart Music CD Rom is for one year and will need to be renewed if you wish to continue using it.
4. You will need access to a PC with an email facility.
5. The 5 lessons can be used as and when they are needed in a one year period. There is no refund for any unused lessons. Lessons can be purchased in the same manner for following years but only if a Play it Yourself course was originally purchased, if not our standard 40 lessons a year arrangement applies.
6. Regular practice is needed to progress and realise potential. While this differs from student to student Grrr's World of Music suggest a minimum of 2 hours per week. This should be broken down into manageable time slots as little and often is better than infrequent long sessions.
7. The student must understand and accept that distance education (or Internet education in general) is a new technology that may not be suitable to their learning needs. While these classes have many benefits, it is a different method of learning that may not be suitable for everyone. As such, Grrr's World of Music is not responsible for what you learn (or do not learn) by taking one of Play it Yourself courses.
